"No rain, no flowers," says Haruki Murakami, the famous Japanese writer. And what better time to remember this than April? But when rain turns into snow in April – that's a bit strange, at least for me. Where I live, it rarely snows in the winter. Well, it snowed twice this April alone. A gentle reminder of what can happen in a month that starts with Fools’ Day.
Anyway, fast forward to the end of the month, and the trees bloom, the days grow longer. It’s as if nature itself is nudging us forward—reminding us that growth isn’t just possible, it’s happening.
A month of quiet but steady improvements
As April draws to a close, we’re reminded again that growth doesn’t always have to be loud. Sometimes it’s just about making things better—simpler, clearer, more efficient. That’s the path we’re on with Clock Hospitality Cloud, and we’re glad you’re on it with us.
A new perspective on the good old (or the good new) room calendar
One of the most visible changes this month is the revamped Room Calendar in our property management system. This is something many of you rely on every single day, and we’ve put a lot of thought into making it not only better but more aligned with your real-world needs.
Faster orientation with booking colour and view customisation
- Visual clarity with customisable colours: A softer colour palette, now with the option to customise colours for different booking types or statuses, helps your team quickly grasp room statuses and booking details.
- Compact and expanded view modes: Toggle between high-level overviews or detailed booking displays, depending on your workflow and what you need to focus on.
- Responsive row heights: Automatically adjusts based on booking volume, keeping busy days tidy and manageable.
Quicker searches with many new filters, grouping, and sorting
- Refined filters and grouping: Quickly narrow down the view by room types, statuses, floors, or booking characteristics, helping staff target specific operational needs.
- Sorting by room features or booking data: Group and sort bookings in ways that support more efficient task planning and guest preparation.
See the unassigned rooms showing bookings without rooms
- Visual highlights for unassigned bookings: Unallocated bookings are clearly marked, making it easier to allocate rooms and avoid missed assignments.
Find the most suitable rooms for your guests with room feature icons and room information
- Room feature icons: Instantly identify rooms with special features like balconies, sea views, or extra space, ensuring guests get the right room.
- Detailed tooltips and quick room info: See key booking and room details at a glance, without having to leave the calendar.
Easier room allocation, room move, and booking changes straight from the calendar
- Quick booking updates: Edit bookings directly—change dates, assign rooms, or update details—all from the calendar.
- Effortless room moves: Drag-and-drop bookings between rooms with automatic conflict checks for a smooth process.
Easily spot early arrivals and late departures. Get instant housekeeping status updates
- Early arrivals and late departures: Clearly marked, helping your team stay ahead and coordinate better.
- Live housekeeping updates: Real-time room readiness status keeps operations running smoothly between departments.
The result? A calendar that adapts to your needs, gives you sharper insights, and helps your team deliver faster, more accurate service—all while making daily operations smoother and more intuitive.
Monthly guest and partner invoicing – automation where it counts
Another notable step this month is the release of Monthly Invoicing—a feature we know will quickly become a favourite for many of you.
There are two key scenarios where this comes in handy:
- Corporate agreements: If you work with companies that prefer all their room charges for the month to be invoiced at once, this feature will help. By routing all charges to a company folio, you can now generate one consolidated invoice for all guests at the end of the month—quickly and without the usual manual effort.
- Long-stay properties: For those managing extended stays, you can now trigger monthly invoicing for past or upcoming months in one go. The system not only creates the invoices automatically in the background, but it can also process payments from cards on file. It’s a big step toward reducing repetitive tasks and ensuring smoother cash flow.
A few more helpful touches
There are more than 20 other smaller tweaks and improvements in this update, each adding capabilities or refining the experience in small but meaningful ways. As always, they come from feedback and ideas shared by many of you.
And a bit about a notable journey with Clock
This month we note 22 years since Petar Genov, our first Commercial Director, joined the company—back in the already distant 2003. We could have been considered still a startup at that time, and Petar joined us on a pure sense of adventure and, I guess, trust in what we would become. The funny thing is that a few years earlier, in 1996, he had become the first-ever hotel manager to sign with Clock for our then-fresh, now long-retired first property management system. What followed is that Petar has had a personal impact on "evangelising" hundreds of hoteliers and convincing them to join the Clock family. Petar is still actively helping our current sales team in achieving their goals, now more focused on sharing his experience and assisting younger team members. Petar is also my personal "devil's advocate," who will always help me see different sides of any commercial decision—which I appreciate so much. Petar, thank you for our common journey at so many different levels 🙏🏻.
Thank you for reading, and for being part of what makes this journey so worth it. See you in May, which is pretty soon anyway, isn’t it? Looking forward to it,
Yours truly,
Krasimir
